Description
About TEGNATEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) helps people thrive in their local communities by providing the trusted local news and services that matter most. With 64 television stations in 51 U.S. markets, TEGNA reaches more than100 million people monthly across the web, mobile apps, streaming, and linear television. Together, we are building a sustainable future for local news.
We are hiring a Director, Lifecycle Marketing to lead the strategy and execution of audience migration to TEGNA's future-facing platforms, including our owned-and-operated Connected TV (CTV) and mobile apps. This role will sit at the intersection of marketing strategy, operations, and technology-developing and operationalizing campaigns that move our most engaged audiences from legacy platforms (linear broadcast and local websites) into deeper, more monetizable relationships on OTT and mobile.
This individual will lead a cross-functional team that includes specialists in lifecycle marketing, email marketing, creative design, and marketing operations. They will partner closely with product, engineering, analytics, and station teams across the country to build best-in-class martech capabilities, develop robust lifecycle journeys, and ensure measurable audience and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the full product marketing strategy for TEGNA's OTT and mobile apps, with a focus on acquisition, activation, and retention.
- Lead the development of lifecycle journeys that segment, target, and move high-propensity users from legacy platforms to digital apps.
- Manage and evolve TEGNA's marketing technology stack, including evaluation and implementation of tools like Braze, Iterable, Customer.io, Kochava, Amplitude, CDPs, CRMs, and ESPs.
- Oversee CRM, email marketing, onboarding flows, and re-engagement campaigns across markets.
- Direct the day-to-day operations and performance of a high-impact team spanning marketing ops, lifecycle/email, design, and analytics.
- Partner with local stations and creative teams to design campaigns that are both brand-aligned and performance-driven.
- Work with analytics partners to establish KPIs, dashboards, attribution models, and test-and-learn frameworks.
- Drive collaboration across product, growth, content, engineering, and data teams.
- Advocate for marketing capabilities and investments that enable scale and revenue growth.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in product marketing, lifecycle marketing, or marketing operations, preferably in media, streaming, or digital apps.
- Strong fluency with martech platforms (Braze, Iterable, Kochava, Amplitude, Salesforce, Adobe Campaign, CDPs).
- Demonstrated experience building and optimizing lifecycle programs, onboarding flows, and multichannel campaigns.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional marketing or growth teams.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution (approx. 50/50 split).
- Comfortable navigating matrixed organizations and collaborating with editorial and technical stakeholders.
- Experience marketing across linear and digital platforms is a strong plus. #LI-MS1
